How can you raise funds?

We don't charge you for running this event.  We don't need any financial commitment or any payment at all.  To cover the cost of running the evening and paying the comedians we keep the ticket revenue.
You raise money by:
Untitled design.jpg
Running the Bar - all proceeds from selling drinks and snacks
Untitled design.jpg
Providing food - all the proceeds from selling food

We can incorporate a raffle or auction in the evening if you chose to do so.
In our experience, most of the money is raised through the bar.  We have experience fundraising from one comedy evening ranging from £300 to over £2000 - with average audiences between 80 and 120.

Just wanted to say an enormous thank-you to everyone for the amazing comedy evening last night.

Everyone at Networkfour felt the whole evening was a fabulous success and continue to receive wonderful feedback, topped off with the amazing donations from everyone I am blown away. We are still receiving messages from others wishing to give further donations to support the charity.

Burton Dassett Village Hall is a registered charity and has worked with 'Comedy At Work' for the last three years. Anne and Mark have created an organisation to be proud of. Their comedy nights have become the thing of legend in our community. They always host hilariously entertaining evenings which are the subject of conversation for weeks afterwards. The acts are varied and of high quality, Mark and Anne are good at judging the atmosphere and keeping the evening flowing perfectly. Most importantly, the Restoration Fund has benefitted hugely from the profits of bar and food sales. The team are always a pleasure to work with and the night itself is always a source of pride for the hall. I would wholeheartedly recommend Comedy at Work to any charity looking to boost their income.

 FAQs

?

We haven't heard of the comedians, does that mean they aren't very good?

?

Why do you use multiple comedians ?
Sometimes not having a famous comedian on the poster puts people off - so yes we have to work a bit harder the first time you hold a comedy night to encourage people to buy tickets. Once they have been along and seen the quality of the comedians, had a really good night - its much easier to get people along the second time.  And we get feedback all the time asking "why haven't I heard of this comedian before?"
We bring along at number of comedians, especially if this is a first event so that we have a whole host of different styles and subject matters. Comedy is like music, we all have our favourites, there are some types we can tolerate and occasionaly something we don't really like at all.  By bringing a mixed line up, we can ensure that there will be something that everyone likes and if there is an act that doesn't really hit the mark for your audience - then they are only on for 10-15 minutes - meaning that it doesn't really take over the enjoyment of the whole evening.

?

Some people have expressed feeling nervous about being picked on.
We work with very good comperes, who can tell straight away if an audience member is uncomfortable and they know how to handle that gently and move on quickly.  We also know how to set up the room and make sure the lighting is set in a way that makes people feel safe and not exposed.  Your guests are in safe hands so you can reassure them.

?

What happens if ticket sales are slow?
You don't need to feel under pressure. Obviously it makes for a better night if the numbers are high - more laughter and a better experience. Also the more people are there on the night, the more customers you have at the bar.  As long as we have over 30 people we can set the room up to make it a great night.  We will still put on a fantastic show and are confident the word will spread for next time!
